Hope for the Workplace – Christ in You  WorkplaceFront300dpiSh3x4dpi72.... (cont.)

By our work we serve God and tend the garden of his creation. God never intended for us to separate our faith from our work. Our work is important to God; it’s part of his plan for creation. At the same time, work is more than a job, but it should not be treated as an idol. Rather, work is a partnership with God, having purpose and dignity. Jesus encourages us to build the kingdom of God here and now, in our own time and place.

God has always been involved through his people in the major movements of history. The dominance of commerce in today’s world through advances in technology and globalization is one of these major movements. Through his people, God is moving creation forward to the day when he “may be all in all (1 Cor 15:28). Through Christians in business and commerce, God is able to touch lives that may never intersect with the institutional church.

In spite of the headlines of the last decade that business is rife with greed and corruption, the many stories in this book affirm that Christians can make a difference in overcoming challenges common to the workplace, including moral confusion, empty measures of success, an inordinate focus on self, and the tendency to separate faith form work.In contrast to these problems, Hope for the Workplace illustrates how integrity, good stewardship, servant leadership, right relationships, a positive work environment, forgiveness, and healing can all transform one’s day-to-day experience at work.

The real hope for the workplace is "the mystery that has been kept hidden for ages and generations…Christ in you, the hope of glory" (Col 1:26, 27).

"The workplace is full of people whose lives may never intersect with the Church, but they intersect with you. Every day you have opportunities to be the Father’s present-day incarnation by reflecting his love, integrity, and service to the people and circumstances you encounter in your lives."
